Martin Palmer from Bristol has been jailed for Fraud. Mr Palmer was Gala Casino’s hospitality manger, which meant that he looked after the casinos food and bar. Over the course of a 22 month period, Mr Palmer submitted a staggering 228 false invoices to the casino that he claimed were from different catering companies.
He managed to convince Gala Casinos head office in London to pay the invoices in petty cash, which he then went on to use to feed his cocaine addiction. This resulted in Mr Palmer stealing £54, 880 from the company, which ultimately led to the casinos General Manger making three different staff members redundant as they didn’t have the funds to keep them on.
Over time staff at Gala Casino became very suspicious, especially when he submitted 17 fraudulent invoices in one day.
The judge at Bristol Crown court charged Martin Palmer with Fraud and served him with a two year prison sentence.
