The eagerly awaited new Apple Watch is going to have a number of gambling apps available for it.
Coral Interactive and Unibet are among the firms to have released an app for it. There are now more than 3,000 apps for the new wearable device and the new ones join apps by the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes Australia.
The Coral Interactive effort is part of the firm's Coral Connect omni-channel product. It uses online wagering software designed by Playtech. The idea is that it will enable users to put bets on live and future sports events. They will also be able to cash out their live bets using the new app. Playtech are also said to be working with other gambling firms on other branded versions of this mobile product.
As for the Unibet app for the Apple Watch, this will allow the user to check out the latest details on football and horse racing events. However, it won't allow the watch's wearer to place bets. To do this they will need to switch over to their phone or computer. Ed Nicholson is the head of sportsbook marketing in the UK. He said that they see users of the watch initially using it as an “information and communication tool”.
One of the very first betting apps to be released for the Apple Watch was from the Australian online lottery firm Jumbo Interactive. This app has been in the pipeline for some time and will send out alert on prizes and winning numbers.
