Spanish Betting Figures Released
Online betting in Spain is controlled by La Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego and they have recently released details of the figures for Spanish internet gambling in the final quarter of 2012.
The stand out figure on the report is the one which confirms that there are now more than a million punters gambling on Spanish sites, which is a remarkable figure considering how recently the market was opened up over there.

There was also confirmation that gross revenues from games in the final quarter of the year showed a 40% jump from the previous period, up to €61.4 million. The total of amount of bets dealt with also increased significantly, up 24% to €1.36 billion.
When it comes to the breakdown of the types of wagering done we can see that sports betting is massive in Spain, making up as it does over 48% of all of the bets placed in the 4th quarter of last year. Poker games brought in revenue of €483 million, while slots make up over 12% of the industry and internet bingo is responsible for 3.6% of the Spanish bets made in this period.
The amount of new players signing up slowed down slightly in the final three months of the year, dropping from 100,000 each month to 72,500.
