A Decade of Poker with Microgaming
The online gaming software developer Microgaming has recently celebrated its tenth anniversary as an internet poker operator.
If we go back to March of 2003 we can see that the service now known as the Microgaming Poker Network was launched under the name of Prima Poker. This network was soon up and running and dealing hands for some of the biggest internet poker operators around.
During the decade of life for Microgaming they have achieved highlights such as being the first company in their industry to bring out a poker system which could be used on Android devices. They were also the first to give the choice of anonymous tables to punter and to start up Survivor tournaments.
A Lot of Change in 10 Years
Lydia Melton is the Head of Network Games at Microgaming and she said that they have seen a huge amount of changes in both the network and in the entire gaming industry since they started out. She said that as well as the increase in the number of regulated markets across the planet they have also had to deal with the loss of some markets and a huge amount of “software innovation”. She also pointed out that they have now dealt “nearly five billion hands”. She finished by saying that she is “really excited” about the next decade”.
At the moment the poker network from Microgaming is used by the likes of Unibet, 32Red, Betsson and Stan James. The CEO of 32Red is called Ed Ware and he said that they are “very pleased” with the platform which Microgaming provides them with.
