Mixed Reactions as Robbie Williams Launches Poker Site
Robbie Williams, of Take That and solo pop stardom fame, has stunned the online gaming world by launching a brand new free poker site. The aptly titled Robbie Williams Poker is currently in Beta but will soon launch full scale which will have players the world over flocking to join the 37 year old celebrity for a hand or two.
Play for free and hone your skills
Williams intends to provide players with a completely free environment where they wager a virtual currency. The homepage tantalizes and invites players to join in with the action by saying,”So get your poker face on for free online poker tournaments and perfect your Hold'em Poker skills."
Once you are comfortable with how to play and use the site you will be able to ‘buy in’ to tournaments with real money. You then play for a pot but only risk your buy in as all chips used during the game is the same currency used during the free games.
Lovers and haters
The new site has prompted mixed reactions within the gambling community. Some have praised the arrival whilst others have shown concern over Williams ‘addictive’ and ‘unpredictable’ personality. Liberal Democrat MP, Tessa Munt said,”Robbie Williams of all people should be sensitive to the problem of addiction. I don't believe there is anything harmless about gambling in this way. The problem is escalation, and he must know what this is like."
Munt isn’t alone in her protests as many of Williams’ own fans have expressed dismay. We’d have to say we are all for a responsible free site, regardless of his personal issues we feel the site will be a big hit so long as critics fears can be quelled.
