The Rise and Rise of Macau Casinos
The figures recently released om casino activity in Macau confirm that the popular Chinese betting destination is still on the up.
One simple statistic is enough to show us that the 35 casinos in Macau enjoyed a spectacular 2012. The total amount collected in gaming revenue there last year was $38 billion, which is a good deal higher than the $35.6 billion which the entire US casino business earned the previous year.
In fact, if we only look at December in 2012 we can see that it was the area’s best ever month, with $3.5 billion earned, which is 20% more than the same period last year. This figure is also, quite incredibly, more than 50% of the total Las Vegas casino revenue in 2011.
The 2012 figures show a healthy 13.5% increase on what Macau’s casinos earned in 2011.If we add in the fact that the period from 2010 to 2011 witnessed a massive 42% increase then we can see that the only way is up for this place.
The World’s Biggest Casino Region
The figures were released last week by the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau. As well as giving us some interesting statistics to chew over they have also confirmed that it is the world’s biggest and most successful gambling area.Despite all of this good news for Macau it should be pointed out that the betting growth there is slowing down from its peak. It is clearly still growing but just not as much as it was before. 2013 is sure to be an interesting year there.
