Las Vegas Still a Big Tourist Draw
If you were planning a trip which involved some casino gaming action then where would you go to?
That’s right; you would probably go to Las Vegas. Well, millions of other people think the same way and this explains why it is such a popular destination for so many people from around the world.
The prediction for 2012 visitors in the world capital of casinos was 40 million and the people at Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority think that this huge figure is going to be accurate when the year’s tourists are all added up.
Over 33 Million Tourists to October
If we count the visitor figures up to October of 2012 then the total is an impressive 33.58 million. When the figures for November and December are released there only needs to be a little under 6 and a half million extra visitors in order to meet the magical 40 million barrier.
By looking at the last couple of months for which tourist data is available then the target figure looks entirely reasonable. In October there were just under 3 over and a half million people who enjoyed a break in Las Vegas. In September the figure was just slightly less.
Scott Russell is a senior research manager for the travel industry in the city and he said that they are “on the doorstep” of the 40 million target. Even so, this year is going to better the previous best ever result of 39.2 million tourists in 2007, according to Russell.
