The Betting Starts on the Royal Baby

It didn’t take long for punters to start making wagers on the name of the baby which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting.

24 hours after news came out about the pregnancy some of the UK’s biggest betting firms had already given out odds for the little one’s name.

 In fact, as well as the name you can also place a wager on the baby’s gender, hair colour, birth weight and god parents if you like. William Hill and Ladbrokes are among the betting company’s who are offering odds on a variety of different subjects.

For example, Ladbrokes has Elizabeth as the favourite name at 8/1. All grouped together at 10/1 are Charles, John and Frances.

Paddy Power is another bookmaker getting in on the act and they have Victoria, John and Mary all at 8/1. Diana could be a popular choice at 9/1 and at 10/1 you can take your pick from Anna, Charles and Philip. If you want to place money on more of a long shot then Rafa, Bradley and Wallis will all give you 100/1 and Fergie is offered at 250/1.

When it comes to hair colour blonde and brunette are the favourites at 2/1. A weight of 7 pounds and 15 ounces will net you 5/2 and 10 pounds comes in at 10/1.

As far as the god parents are concerned then the favourites are Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry, with both marked down already as even money bets. Among the more interesting names in the mix are David and Victoria Beckham. You could get up to 100/1 on this celebrity couple being named god parents of the newest little royal.
