Irish Winner in the European Masters of Poker in Dublin
The last stop in season IV of the European Masters of Poker took place at Clontarf Castle in Dublin was won by Padraig O’Neill.
O’Neill picked up winnings of €32,510 for his trouble on an event which had a €1,100 buy in and which had a total of 124 players taking part in it.
The Irish poker player clearly enjoyed playing on home turf, as he opened up the final day as chip leader from the last of the table of eight games. He then went into a straight head to head shootout with Patrik Chahmiran.
A Big Chips Advantage
O’Neill had close to 2 million chips while his French rival has about half a million at the start of the duel. Chahmiran managed to pull back some of the difference between them but never managed to ever get himself into a position from which to have a real go at taking the lead.
The Irishman was in an aggressive mood and managed to keep the Frenchman at arm’s length until the final game ended with all the chips going in the middle pre-flop with O’Neill holding a far superior hand.
As well as O’Neill’s prize of €32,510, the other top prizes include €19,700 for second placed Chahmiran and €13,200 for Andrei Kravchuk in third place. Daragh Davey got €9,300 for coming in fourth and in fifth place collecting €8,100 was Rasmus Adjers.
