Demand Out Strips Supply as 16000 Apply for 750 Casino Jobs
There’s no denying that unemployment is at the forefront of the governments wish list to sort out over the coming months and years. There have been countless stories in the press recently about hundreds of people applying for a single job and this week a casino in Cleveland has reported 16,000 job applications for just 750 positions - and they’ve not even completed building work yet!
The brand new Horseshoe Casino finally yielded to demand on Friday when they removed half of the job postings in a bid to whittle down the candidates which have already applied. The firm is said to be vetting each application based on the suitability of each candidate based on the particular job they applied for.
Jennifer Kulczychi, a spokesperson for parent company Rock Gaming said,"We were blown out of the water by the numbers but we announced we would hire 90 percent of our staff from the Cleveland area and we are sure we will meet that goal."
A previous set of job postings at the casino also generated massive local interest. Back in September the firm advertised 600 positions with twenty times that amount applying (12,000 applications).
The positions include casino security, catering, cashier jobs and administration assistants. The lucky few who make it through to the interview process will be further slimmed down until the final 750 receive conditional job offers with full training.
