More Smart Phones Means More Gaming on the Go
New figures have just been released which go part of the way to explaining why so many online casino operators are so keen to get their mobile gaming systems up and running.
The fact is that 40% of adults who live in the UK now have smart phones which allow them to play games and have a flutter no matter where they are. These ownership figures are a huge jump of 27% from last year’s statistics and the rise in the number of smart phones in use shows no sign of slowing down yet. The figures are revealed in the current Ofcom Communications Market Report.
The biggest winners so far in the online gambling industry are the sports betting sector sites. It has been reported that over three quarters of all mobile device wagers are related to sports bets.
Worth Over €5 Billion in Three Years Time
A projection from H2 Capital has helped them come to the conclusion that the mobile online betting market could rise to a value of well over €5 billion in the next 3 years. For last year the figure was €2.2 billion.
The number of punters using their smart phones to have a go in an internet casino is also growing all the time. A couple of years ago mobile casino games accounted for under 10% of all mobile gaming activity but that is now expected to rise to almost 13% by the end of 2012.
Apart from the UK, other countries are also seeing their smart phone ownership figures climb rapidly. In the USA 45% of adults own one and in Spain, Germany, Italy and France the figure is 44% in each of them.
