Rumours of Online Casinos Being Welcomed in Portugal Next

With online gaming on casino sites now such big business in so many different countries it is no surprise to see that there is growing interest in the subject in Portugal.

Of course, the country’s Iberian neighbour Spain has just recently had its internet casino market regulated. Details have now come out in the newspaper called Daily News in Portugal of the possibility that this becomes the next country to welcome online casinos for its residents.

The theory is that the potentially massive tax benefits for the government could make it very tempting for them to do it, as Portugal is suffering badly in the current economic crisis.

It seems that the country’s political leaders are looking into the various different options for making this happen. For example, they could go for a small amount of change which would really give the Santa Casa de Misercordia de Lisboa complete control of all of the internet betting related issues in the country.

However, another option would be to take the more liberal approach to regulatory control and licensing which Spain has taken in the last few weeks and which is shared by a number of other European countries.
