Detroit Man Goes on Bank Funded Casino Spree
What would you do if your local bank ATM started spewing out more cash than you could stuff in your pockets? Maybe you would do the right thing and tell the bank staff or give it all away to charity but there is a good chance that a lot of us would do what Ronald Page did recently.
Mr Page is from Detroit and when he discovered the faulty ATM he went a bit casino crazy. The retired car industry worker reportedly spent an astonishing $1.5 million in the 3 casinos where are located in his home city. This incredibly gambling splurge could put him in jail, though.
His Luck Ran Out
His casino adventure started when he discovered that the ATM would give him lots of free money without it coming out of his account. Sadly, the luck he had found at the bank ran out on him, as he lost huge sums of money in the casinos and then got collared by the police. It isn’t clear whether he won some money and ploughed it back in again but we can safely assume that with such a lot of money to gamble with he must have picked up some winnings somewhere along the line.
He now faces a charge of stealing money from the bank, as he knew full well that the cash which the ATM was dispensing wasn’t his to take and use. This is a federal crime and he could now end up in jail for up to 15 months when the case is heard later on this week.
