With the World Series of Poker Big One for One Drop tourney a little over a month away it is an exciting time for a lucky poker player from Canada who has won a slot there.

Carlos Nahas from Montreal is the player who has won a free one million dollar buy in for the big event, which will happen in July.

His luck began when his friend won a slot machine promotion which gave him a buy in for the excitingly titled Grand Tornoi de Poker Loto Quebec satellite tournament. As the friend who won the buy in isn’t a big poker player he gave the entry to Carlos, who went on to win the tournament.

Now he will be playing poker with million at stake in the Big One for One Drop tournament. If you are wondering why this tournament has a rather strange name then it is because of the charity connections it has. A good percentage of the buy in money (and it is the most expensive one in the world) will be used to help solve some of the problems with water shortages currently being felt in different countries in the developing world. This donation has been reported as $111,111 for every million dollar buy in.
At the moment there are 30 players lined up for the big event and there are a maximum 48 slots open. The final will happen on the 3rd of July and will be screened live on ESPN. It is expected that the overall winner will pick up a prize of around $15 million.
