Silence Surrounds the Future of Purple Lounge
It has now been a month since the Purple Lounge online casino and poker site was shut down, and players are still waiting to find out whether they will get their money back.
The site was regulated by the Maltese gambling authorities and they have just confirmed that it was closed “upon the request made by the licensee”. They confirmed that the closure was carried out on the 23rd of April of this year and at that time there were “no pending complaints” and also that the “licence was compliant”.
Their statement went on to say that as the “operator is no longer licensed by the Authority” they can do nothing to help players who are having problems with Purple Lounge after the date their license was terminated.
No Word on the Money
What this really means is that they won’t help anyone try and recover their bank balance from the closed online casino. It is not clear whether these balances were kept separate and what is going to be done to give members their money back. So far the people behind Purple Lounge have had very little to say publicly on the matter.
The site was run by Media Corp PLC and the firm’s CEO Sara Vincent and Chairman Justin Drummond left in the last week or so. Since then nothing has been done to contact players and advise them what will happen to their account balances. The new Chairman and CEO are Phil Jackson and Adam Fraser-Harris respectively.
The wait for information on the matter looks like it could run on for a while longer.
