Expect More Stunts from Paddy Power
The Irish online betting firm Paddy Power is famed for its outrageous marketing stunts and now it seems that the bosses are keen for even more of them.
They have apparently been seeking out top PR firms to give them yet more eye catching ideas which will keep the company’s name on everyone’s lips.
You might remember the controversy back in 2010 when Paddy Power put up a giant, 50 foot Hollywood style sign on Cleeve Hill to promote the Cheltenham Gold Cup. They were then forced to take it down by local authorities because they hadn’t been given permission to erect it in the first place.
A Giant Jockey on an Ancient Horse
This year Paddy Power went one step further with their stunts by putting a giant jockey with a PP cap on the ancient Uffington Horse. The 374 foot figure is made out of chalk and is believed to be around 3,000 years old. The work to alter the horse was done during the night and is said to have taken more than 6 hours to complete. It also involved more than 200 metres of canvas.
There was also a recent scandal about the YouTube video concerning the England football team with was given an over 18 rating and which caused Paddy Power to say that the video site was acting as “fun police”.
Now it has been reported that the gambling firm has sent out briefs to PR agencies to get ideas and support for fresh stunts which will gain it an even bigger reputation for doing weird and amusing things.
