PokerStars Macau Poker Cup in August Cancelled

PokerStars Macau Poker Cup in August Cancelled

The upcoming PokerStars Macau Poker Cup – which is a Red Dragon Series Tournament – is no longer going to take place as originally planned.

The event was cancelled by the organisers – PokerStars – but no reason for cancelling it has been given yet. It was planned to take place in August of 2012.

News of the unexpected cancellation was given by Danny McDonagh, who is the Director of Live Poker Tournaments at PokerStars. All that he confirmed was that the Macau event was taken off this year’s tournament list because of events which were outside the firm’s “reasonable control”.

The Rest of the Year’s Events in Doubt

The statement issued by PokerStars then went on to say that they “cannot yet confirm” the details of the rest of their special events in Macau for this year but they expect to do so “as soon as possible”

Danny McDonagh stated that the company is still fully committed to giving the “best poker experience” on the planet and that the Macau Poker Cup which is currently on the go will be the place where this commitment will be clear to see. This tournament has already started and runs until the 18th of June at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex.

This news comes hot on the heels of the reduction of the poker company’s
European Poker Tour for 2012 from 14 events down to just 7, with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure also lined up for this year.
